What does it mean to be a witness in Christ?

Back in Old Testament

• Two witnesses were needed
• They were on the hook for the death penalty as well
• There are 5 witnesses here

How was John the Baptist a witness?v33-35

• Witness to Truth
• Fulfilled Prophecy
• John was the lamp lighting the path for Jesus coming
• Announced His Coming

How are Miracles a type of witness? V36-37

• They authenticate Jesus
• Miracles were endorsements from God

What witness has the Father provided? V37-38

• God's Audible voice during his baptism
• God's Audible voice during the Transfiguration
• Both occasions He calls Jesus his son

How can the scripture be a witness? V39

• Jesus is fulfillment of the Old Testament
• Through prophesy scripture proclaims who He is
• Through the covenants
• Both proclaim the coming messiah, written by so many like Moses, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, and more

How can we be a witness?

• Through talking about Jesus
• Telling them the Gospel
• Also telling them about what he has done for us
• Through our actions
• Through our relationships
• Through our invitations
