The Sanctuary of Pan in Caesarea Philippi was the backdrop to two of Jesus’s most important revelations. First, he was no ordinary rabbi but the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Second, Jesus set his followers on a mission. He said, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
(Matthew 16:18).
