Comparison between John the Baptist and Jesus
• Jesus has been showing the superiority of the New Covenant to the Old Covenant
• Ex: New Wine in the purification jars at the Wedding in Cana
• Ex: Jesus to be lifted on a cross is a better cure compared to Moses' serpent on a rod.
• Now Jesus Ministry compared to John
• Jesus starts to Baptize in Judea

John the Baptist and His Disciples
• John's ministry is shrinking as the shift is going to Jesus (v 26)
• His Disciples are envious
• John responded in an interesting was in v 27, he acknowledges that everything comes from Heaven specifically his vocation
• Vocation means "to call"
• Every Talent and Ability comes from God
• God has called us to where we are in life.
• We are often not satisfied like John's disciples.
• We get angry, jealous, and envious
• John was satisfied in his vocation and the dwindling of his ministry because he is the one crying in the wilderness for the Christ
• He is accomplishing his job

John testifies who Jesus is
• Jesus is above all (v31)
• Jesus speaks of Heavenly things
• John's ministry is a testimony to who Jesus is
• Jesus speaks the words of God (v 34)
• Holy Spirit is immeasurable within him(v 34)
• Jesus is loved by God (v35)
• Because of this love we can stand before the throne forgiven
• Because of this love we are invited to the wedding feast
• Not just as friends but as the bride
• So we are called by God 's love to join him eternally
• Whether we receive it is another question
