Who do you think first mentioned the word church in the Bible? The answer is: Jesus. Several months before his death and resurrection he told his disciples, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18) That is how Jesus introduced the idea of church into the world. It would be his church, he would build his church and there would be spiritual opposition… but Jesus’s church would win. Find out more in this week’s sermon.
