When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)
That is just weird. But it was the beginning of a movement of Christ followers who will, one day, share in the Messianic Banquet. Here’s the menu: The LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. (Isaiah 25:6) Yum!
How does the weirdness of Pentecost relate to the yummy Messianic Banquet? And how does that relate to us? Find out more in this week's sermon.
