Daniel: history, apocalyptic, and prophecy
Grace Anglican’s Fall Adult Forum offering shifts gears on Sunday, October 28 to implement what we have learned in “Reading the Bible for All It’s Worth.” Join us as we practice using the methods Fr. Bob has given us to read through the Old Testament book of Daniel.
Daniel is divided into twelve chapters: the first six contain wonderful stories of faith triumphing over adversity; the second six contain visions of God’s absolute authority over human existence, and another Old Testament prophecy of the One who is to come—Jesus! Daniel invites the faithful reader of the Bible to explore three of what Fr. Bob called its literary genres: narrative history, apocalyptic, and prophecy. (There are five more!)
One writer has tried to condense the message of Daniel into a single sentence: “In spite of present appearances, God is in control.” That sort of message may be very comforting today.
Join us for both comfort and illumination as we read through the book of Daniel “for all it’s worth!”
Grace Anglican’s Adult Forum meets Sunday mornings 9:30 to 10:15 in the Living Room.
