Advent Day of Prayer
At the Advent Day of Prayer, you will engage in nine prayer stations set up to portray an Advent wreath. The Advent wreath is a Christian tradition that symbolizes the passage of the four weeks of Advent. The wreath is used as a sign that Christians are joyfully awaiting the coming of our Savior, as every Sunday in Advent a new candle is lit. The prayer stations will help us celebrate that Jesus is God’s gift of hope, peace, joy, and love to us and to the world.
God has given us these gifts to share. At the Advent Day of Prayer, you will be given the name of a child in an Upbring foster family for whom you will pray and create a “gift of hope” bag, while engaging with the prayer stations. These “gift of hope” bags will be given to these children in foster families so that they too may experience the hope, peace, joy, and love of Jesus this Advent season.
The sign up for the Advent Day of Prayer will be in the foyer at church or you can email RitaJLanham@gmail.com. Prayer times start at 6:00AM on Saturday, November 30th, and run every 20 minutes until 8:00PM. It will take an hour or so to complete the prayer stations. Families/couples may choose to sign up together; please indicate the number of people who will be praying together when you sign up. Please register by Sunday, November 24. Thank you for your faithful commitment.
