Draw Near: a night of prayer and praise
January 22, 2021
7:00pm – 8:00pm
There are many happenings in our world today that should drive us to prayer. The chaos on Capitol Hill is just another sign among countless others of the impact of sin upon people and the systems we create. In light of such brokenness despair would seem to be an appropriate response. However, Christians are told to bring their laments to God, and even to "rejoice...in all things" (Phil.4:6). Very different from mere despair.
In fact, we are told to Draw Near to God with confidence because of who Jesus is (Heb. 4:14-16). This drawing near will be to express our joy and delight in the goodness of God given to us. Other times, it will be to lament and cry out for help. Usually, a mixture of both. But all of this is worship if and when we draw near declaring and placing our hope in God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, who is our helper.
On Friday, January 22nd, from 7 to 8pm we will Draw Near to worship and pray with joyful hearts, confident in God's invitation to us through his Son.
