Dear Fellow Travelers,

A few weeks ago, we announced that Luke Kunefke would be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m.  Here is the formal invitation.  We have had a couple of questions about Luke’s ordination.  These are discussed below.  Before that, though, let me encourage you to make every effort to attend.  Ordinations are always joyful, festive occasions.  The Rt. Rev. Clark Lowenfield, our bishop, will officiate and clergy from across the diocese will take part. The liturgy is beautiful and the service will be inspirational. Mark your calendar now. You won’t want to miss it.

As noted above there have been a couple of questions about the ordination.  First, some people are wondering if this means Luke will be leaving us soon. It is a great question and I am delighted to say that he will not be leaving.  Instead, he will be staying with us indefinitely.  Both Luke and I sense that he has been called by God to this congregation.  A priestly calling is extended by God for a period of time determined by God himself.  Both Luke and I are open to him being here for a long time.  His tenure at Grace Anglican is in God’s hands.

Second, there have been questions about ordination presents.  When someone is ordained, it is customary to give them gifts that can be used in their ministry. The gifts we are considering are  portable communion kit (left) and a personal communion set (right).

If you would like to contribute to Luke’s gifts, please make a check out to the church with the notation, “Luke’s gift." You may place the check in the offering basket on Sunday or mail it to the church. You may also use the bill pay feature offered by most banks, or even donate through our website. Send checks to: Grace Anglican Community, 24968 Katy Ranch Rd., Suite 100, Katy, TX 77494.

Luke and Mary Grace have been wonderful gifts to our congregation.  We are excited to be partners in ministry with them.  Come show your support and love on November 16.

Grace to you,

Bob
