Big COVID Update

Dear Fellow Travelers,

Great news. Last week, the CDC gave new guidance that frees us to modify our COVID protocols.

After a year of pandemic, it is enough to make one dance for joy. With that in mind, let me announce our Texas Two Step response to the most recent CDC guidance.

Step 1- Pentecost Sunday, May 23

Beginning this week, masks and social distancing will be optional. Those who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to follow CDC recommendations. You may find them here https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html

In addition, it is common to wear red or other colorful clothes to church on Pentecost. We would encourage everyone to be BOLD in their dress to celebrate Pentecost and to celebrate easing of restrictions.

Step 2 – Picnic Sunday, June 6

This is when things will return to normal (almost). This includes:

  • One service at 10:30 a.m.
  • Return to complete service as it was prior to COVID.
  • Name tags in foyer.
  • Groups are free to meet in person, with masks optional.
  • Food may be served.

For the time being, communion will be distributed with clergy masked. And for the time being, we will continue to use the small, disposable cups for wine.

During COVID, some of our ministries were put on hold. These will be reorganized and will be phased back in (think acolytes, welcome, etc.). Adult Forum will resume in September.

If you haven’t signed up for the picnic, you may do so here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScGYM47y5Mdr6097tHLtmuWTXyOe0a7_dbExoIYVNUPCIRaCw/viewform . Be sure to wear casual clothes suitable for a picnic. It will be great to gather with all your old friends and an opportunity to meet some new people. It will also be a great time to invite a friend or neighbors.

See you Sunday,

Bob

P.S. Remember to wear something colorful and bold.
